Developing Positive Self-Esteem in Young People
10 November 2009 (London)
20 April 2010 (Manchester)
30 June 2010 (Birmingham)
The way a young person feels about themselves is central to their emotional wellbeing. However the concept of self-esteem is not straightforward and recent research offers some interesting debates. This course aims to help participants understand current debates about self-esteem and to consider the evidence for what works to boost young people's self-esteem, as well as what to avoid. The session will also enable participants to try out some appropriate practical tools and techniques.
The course covers:
- Definitions - clarifying what key terms mean
- Reflecting on our own sense of self
- Developmental issues for young people
- Risk factors and vulnerabilities
- The evidence for what works
- Helpful strategies and approaches
Fees:
Statutory, independent and large voluntary organisations: £155
Individuals and small voluntary organisations: £125
Young People in Focus standard cancellation charges apply.
