Young People and Risky Behaviour

Risky behaviour covers a wide range of behaviours in young people and can present challenges to workers who struggle to find the balance between promoting independence in young people and keeping them safe. This course will explore the role of risky behaviour in young people’s lives and consider ways to work positively with them in a way that empowers them to make healthy choices. It will also consider how to set boundaries in work with young people.
The course covers:
- What is risky behaviour?
- Physical and emotional risk
- Why do young people take risks?
- Developmental issues and risk
- Risky drinking, drug taking, sexual behaviours
- Setting boundaries and keeping safe
- Helping young people make informed choices
- Being informed as a practitioner
Fees:
Statutory, independent and large voluntary organisations: £155
Individuals and small voluntary organisations: £125
Young People in Focus standard cancellation charges apply.
